How does OHN actually work?

Could you please explain how OHN actually operates? How does it selectively ward off certain biology while not damaging what as see as beneficial biology? Does it do this by building the immune system and if so, again..how does it selectively build immune systems in what is seen as beneficial and not in the biology that is seen as not beneficial?
