French Fillet Green Beans Hawaiian Style

This research project is done in a Food Canoe, using KNF solutions. My intention is to apply the solutions weekly. My expectation is to have healthy plants that produce lots of yummy beans. I chose these type of beans because they are my favorite and I never get tired of them.
Project Timeline
Week 16. Last harvest. 67 beans weighing 153 g. Only 4 flowers visible. I pulled all the plants out. The 2 plants that were saved for seed collecting had 12 more beans on them so I collected those and they are drying. Will probably get @40 seeds.
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
67 beans from the same 25 plants. Last harvest
Week 15. Amazing! I was shocked to see how many beans there were- 131 of them, weighing 334 gr! I thought the plants were pretty spent last week but what a pleasant surprise. Long Live the Natural Farmer!
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
I sprayed the Maintenance Formula mixed in 27 oz of water. Two days late because that's when I had time after my 2nd cataract surgery.
131 beans from the same 25 plants. Another amazing harvest!
Plants really now have very few flowers left. They looked the same as last week in terms of some yellowing leaves. No new pest damage.
Week 14. 137 beans weighing 342 g. Oh my gosh!!! I was so surprised to see how many beans were ready for harvest! The plants look spent but I got a whole new harvest. I have a lot to learn about how to cycle the solutions and see what the plants are doing. Very exciting to get so many more beans.

I sprayed the bloom formula a day late (I had cataract surgery the day before)
I harvested the seed pods last week and let them dry out on the kitchen windowsill. Today I collected 25 seeds from the pods, a perfect amount to sow next time.
137 beans! A great harvest!
Plants even more yellow, almost no new flowers. Leaves show some pest damage.
Week 13. Only 16 beans weighing 35 g. Plants are definitely getting tired- look at the yellowing leaves and now some bug munching on them too. a few flowers. I harvested 8 healthy looking bean pods from the two plants that I saved to collect seeds from. It looks like some of the seeds already matured and fell off the plant.
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
Sprayed the leaf formula.
Production winding down. Only 16 beans.
The bean plants are tired...they are much more yellow than last week and now have some pest damage indicated by holes in some leaves.
Week 12. Bean production is definitely winding down. Only 29 beans (enough for 2 small servings) that weigh 79 gr. There are still some flowers. Most noticeable is how much the plants themselves grew- it seems like they doubled in size. They are beginning to yellow.
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions. They were not watered today because it is so rainy and the soil is quite damp.
I added 1 tsp of Maintenance formula to 27 oz water and also added 30 ml of minerals, the Bloom recipe. Although the spray bottle contents are too much for the 25 bean plants, I spray the rest of the bottle everywhere else in the Food Canoes :)
Production winding down. Only 29 beans.
Week 11. There are still plenty of beans :) I harvested 82 beans that weighed 202 grams. There is some yellowing in the leaves and just a few remaining flowers so the plants are winding down now.
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
Made 32 oz of Fruit formula. Sprayed the beans and sprayed other plants in the Food Canoe too.
82 beans!
Week 10. An amazing harvest! It took 10 minutes to pick all the beans- 195 of them. I stir fried them in olive oil and butter with garlic- so good!
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
1 tsp of prepared maintenance formula and minerals were added to 27 oz of water
An amazing harvest! 195 beans!
Week 9. Second harvest! Plants look great- lots pf flowers too!
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
I made structure :) I sprayed the fruit formula and drenched with the remainder.
This harvest was nearly identical to last week's in number of beans but weighed 10 grams less. I had to harvest on day 6 rather than day 7- maybe that's why it was lighter
Week 8. I harvested my first beans today! Plants look very healthy :)
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
1 tsp of prepared maintenance formula was added to 27 oz of water. 2 handfuls of worm castings were sprinkled on the soil
First harvest from 25 plants. Two of the plants aren't being harvested so that I can seed save. Some of the beans could have waited a little longer but I'm going to harvest weekly so wanted to pick whatever seemed ready today.
Week 7. Visible BEANS! I adjusted the spray solution to be for fruit. The plants look healthy and there are no signs of pests or disease.
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Beans are hand watered before spraying the solutions.
I followed the formula for Fruit but didn't have any Structure to add. Will make it SOON.
Week 6. Eric sprayed and took the photo. Maintenance applied because of simplicity. Beans have flowers now! And are growing very well! Squiggly lines are completely gone :)
2.0 gallons for minutes Plants are watered everyday. Eric hand watered before he applied the foliar solutions.
1 tsp of prepared maintenance formula was added to 27 oz of water
Week 5. Eric sprayed the beans with 1 tsp of maintenance mixed in 27 oz water. The beans are growing very well and it looks like the squiggly lines on the leaves are gone. I'll verify that next week when I return to my project.
2.0 gallons for minutes Seedlings are watered everyday. Eric hand watered before he applied the foliar solutions.
1 tsp of prepared maintenance formula was added to 27 oz of water
Week 4. Since I am not home to tend to my beans, Eric is helping me and the beans. I am keeping it simple for the time that I am away. Eric is applying 1 tsp onMaintenance to 27 oz water as a spray. He is also watering everyday. The beans are growing nicely.
2.0 gallons for minutes Seedlings are watered everyday. Eric hand watered before he applied the foliar solutions.
1 tsp of prepared maintenance formula was added to 27 oz of water
Week Three. Beans are growing. Some leaves have squiggly lines on them- don't know what that is.
Seedlings are watered everyday. I hand watered before I applied the foliar solutions.
I'm spraying the solutions now rather than drenching. I watered first and then sprayed the leaves thoroughly.
Week Two. So far, 27 of 30 seeds have germinated and look healthy. There are few small bug munchings but overall they look good. It has been very hot and dry.
Seedlings are being hand watered everyday. It's very hot and dry right now.
I couldn't find my spray bottle so I drenched the seedlings again. Followed drenching with hand watering.
Week 1. Today I planted 30 French Fillet Bean seeds. I top dressed with IMO and applied the soil solution. I will not harvest from 2 of the plants so that I can seed save
